The Greater Des Moines Partnership has launched the DSM Employment Ready initiative to assist businesses in need of immediate temporary workers and employees who have been affected by circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Partnership will maintain a list of Greater Des Moines companies looking to rapidly hire for open positions, as well as serve as a resource for employers and employees with up-to-date information relating to state and federal assistance programs. Employers who are looking for temporary workers or to rapidly upscale their workforce can be added to a list that tracks current job opportunities. Organizations with immediate openings are asked to email Sidney Pezley, program manager at the Partnership, with the following information: company name, company contact information, number of job openings, job skills needed, where and how to apply. The Partnership also recommends that companies create an employer profile using the Partnership’s DSM USA Career Center to access current job seeker resumes. Another consideration is to work with a staffing company or temp agency to fulfill your employment needs. Employers experiencing temporary layoffs should also visit the Iowa Workforce Development website. Job seekers looking for temporary employment should view the DSM Employment Ready tracking list, and also find additional resources including the DSM USA Career Center, information on unemployment benefits, child care assistance and other hiring resources here.
