Gov. Kim Reynolds announced the expansion of the Small Business Relief Program from $4 million to $24 million after the Iowa Economic Development Authority received nearly 14,000 applications for grants over the last two weeks. Combined, Iowa applicants requested more than $148 million in grant assistance, and more than 5,000 requested tax deferrals, Reynolds said. The additional $20 million for the Small Business Relief Program will be provided by the State Economic Emergency Fund and the IEDA. The first round of approved applications included more than 500 bars, breweries and restaurants affected by shutdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic.
