Employees working from home will be able to take their lunch break while enjoying performances by local artists as part of a new lunchtime series announced this week by the Greater Des Moines Partnership. The “In for Lunch” series is a virtual twist to the popular Downtown Out to Lunch series that takes place every summer in Des Moines. It allows residents to continue to practice social distancing in the safety of their own home while enjoying live music. The In for Lunch series will be from noon to 1 p.m every Thursday, beginning this week, and continuing through May 14. It’s free and anyone can join in virtually. Residents can participate by going to the Downtown DSM Facebook page. Participants are encouraged to order takeout or delivery from a locally owned restaurant and share their support for local businesses using the #DSMlocalchallenge hashtag on social media. This week’s artist will be Pianopalooza. Companies and organizations interested in sponsoring the series should contact Colleen Murphy, the downtown events coordinator for the Partnership.
