Des Moines Area Religious Council is launching a food pantry delivery service to meet the needs of vulnerable community members. People can call 833-362-7220 toll-free to request a delivery. The number will be staffed from 9 a.m. to noon Monday-Friday, and food will be delivered to the person’s doorstep with no-contact drop-off the following business day. Requests for delivery will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis and delivery capacity will depend on the number of volunteers available. The service is launching with a maximum of 50 food pantry deliveries per day; requests will close at noon or after 50 spots have been filled. DMARC is asking that only those with health, transportation or other mitigating circumstances use this service. Those interested in volunteering may sign up at www.dmarcunited.org/volunteer.
