MercyOne and Corteva Agriscience announced today that they have joined forces to fill the urgent need for the processing of COVID-19 testing samples, with an initial focus on Iowa. MercyOne health care providers will collect the samples and deliver them to Corteva’s Johnston facility, where a small team of trained Corteva employees will process and assess the samples using the company’s sophisticated genetic screening capabilities. Rapid test results are critical to reopen health care services and other essential businesses, said Bob Ritz, president and CEO of MercyOne in Des Moines. “We are grateful to collaborate with Corteva to leverage the strengths of both organizations and greatly appreciate the commitment of our colleagues for their ongoing dedication to meet the needs of our communities,” Ritz said in a statement. The testing provided through the program will initially be used within MercyOne care locations. Sample testing will begin today and is expected to continue for as long as the need remains critical. At this time there are no plans to collect samples at Corteva facilities.
