Winnebago Industries Inc. today outlined a timetable for resuming production of its various product lines over the next several weeks. Beginning the week of May 4, production of its Newmar, Grand Design RV and Winnebago Motorhomes lines will restart, followed by Winnebago Towables production restarting the week of May 11. As previously announced, the Forest City-based recreational manufacturer resumed production at its Chris-Craft and Specialty Vehicles locations the week of April 13. The company, which operates facilities in Iowa, Indiana, Oregon, Minnesota and Florida, temporarily suspended operations due to COVID-19 on March 23. “We remain focused on ensuring the health and safety of our employees as we continue to gradually restart manufacturing operations around the company in a disciplined approach, supported by committed demand from our valued channel partners,” Winnebago President and CEO Michael Happe said in a statement. Winnebago officials are “cautiously optimistic” about several indicators within the outdoor industry, Happe said, including an uptick in campground reservations and marina traffic in select areas, continued low gas prices and interest rates, the easing of stay-at-home restrictions in some states, and improved access to some state and national parks.
