Following public health proclamations established by Gov. Kim Reynolds, the Iowa Utilities Board is extending the winter moratorium that restricts the disconnection of utility services until May 27. The order directs all electric and natural gas utilities to cease disconnection of residential service due to nonpayment for Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) qualified customers. The IUB encourages all customers to continue paying toward their energy bills to avoid accumulating high debt and avoid facing utility service disconnection when the moratorium ends.
