The Greater Des Moines Partnership is launching the DSM Day of Thanks on Wednesday to celebrate health care and other essential workers while practicing social distancing. Des Moines residents are encouraged to participate by hanging DSM Day of Thanks signs in the windows of homes and businesses; posting a thank-you message and photo on social media using #DSMstrong; drawing messages of thanks with sidewalk chalk outside homes; and participating in evening thanks that night, by lighting up homes or workplaces and stepping outside to cheer at 8:30 p.m. More information is available online
