Joppa’s 2020 Annual Campaign launched this month with the goal of raising $400,000 by the end of May. Donations made this month will be matched by private donors as the campaign provides immediate COVID-19 relief to the homeless, Joppa said in a statement. The 2020 campaign is the second such fundraiser for Joppa, which was founded in 2008. Joppa, a nonprofit that helps homeless people, has identified 60 homeless individuals as being qualified for permanent housing or safe temporary shelter during COVID-19, and is working with Central Iowa Shelter & Services and Primary Health Care to place 29 people. Funds from this year’s campaign will help house the other 31 people while providing survival resources such as hand sanitizer, water, soap, face masks, food and more.
