Clive officials have decided not to open the city’s aquatic center this summer and have canceled the Clive Festival that was scheduled for July 17-18. The decision was made as a way to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus. “Public health and safety have always been, and always will be, our top priority,” Clive Leisure Services Director Richard Brown said in a prepared statement. Refunds will be made to those who had already purchased swimming passes. A decision on whether to offer swimming lessons in July will be made by mid-June. The city plans to have a fireworks show on the evening of July 17.
