The Science Center of Iowa today announced a phased reopening plan aimed at allowing its audiences to begin reengaging with SCI while keeping the health and safety of members, visitors, volunteers and staff top-of-mind. The first phase of the five-phase plans calls for reopening the SCI Preschool with limited operations on Tuesda. Phase II will include operating virtual summer camps on June 8 before moving to on-site summer camp operations on June 22. A members-only preview weekend and reopening to the public on weekends will follow in late June and July. “As a hands-on science center, we know that ‘getting back to normal’ looks a little different for us than it does for other attractions in the community,” said Curt Simmons, SCI president and CEO. “Safety is one of our core values — and it’s more important for us to open safely than to open quickly.” See more reopening plan details.
