The Boys & Girls Club of Central Iowa has reopened the Gregory and Suzie Glazer Burt Boys & Girls Club on the Drake University Campus for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. According to a news release from the organization, the club opened today for summer programs. It’s a licensed child care facility, but because of social distancing measures, the Burt Club, at 25th Street and Forest Avenue, can only accommodate up to 80 children for the summer session. “We have been anticipating this day and cannot wait to welcome kids again here at Burt Club,” Kendra Allen, unit director for Burt Club said in a news release. “We are committed to serving children in our community who need us most.” Summer club runs from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday through Aug. 14. Costs are based on a family’s situation, but no child will be turned away.
