Des Moines Register: Fourteen counties are now in severe drought, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Last week, the USDA listed parts of 11 counties in severe drought. Parts of the state that are in moderate drought and considered abnormally dry also grew over the last week, according to the USDA. West-central Iowa continues to be the area most affected. All of Guthrie and Greene counties are now considered to be in severe drought. Most of Boone and Dallas counties are also in severe drought.
