Des Moines Register: Iowans who have lost their jobs because of the COVID-19 pandemic will begin seeing an extra $300 on their unemployment benefits Friday. Iowa Workforce Development announced that it would begin processing applications for the extra money on Thursday morning. The payments come through Lost Wages Assistance, a program created by President Donald Trump through an executive order after Congress failed to reach an agreement for renewing a federal pandemic assistance package that provided an additional $600 a week in unemployment compensation from April through July.
