Gov. Kim Reynolds this week announced that 46 organizations have received Coronavirus Relief Fund Earn and Learn Grants totaling $5.85 million. The grants, provided through federal CARES Act funding, will fund projects that support the creation and expansion of short-term training programs and support services resulting in industry-recognized credentials. Individual grants ranging from $10,000 to $250,000 were awarded to project proposals submitted by nonprofits, adult training providers, small businesses (fewer than 50 employees), postsecondary institutions and unions. Together, the projects have the potential to serve 1,800 Iowans whose employment has been affected by the pandemic. “These funds may be used toward tuition, training equipment, books, tools, work-related supplies and wrap-around supports, as well as administrative costs.
